Using Old Greeting Cards

Greeting cards when given to us seem so special, no matter who gave us and when. The only thing we sometimes think is how can we use them again in a wonderful way without throwing them away. Read on to know about some quick tips to learn about recycling greeting cards and you will realize you can do quite a number of innovative things with these cards with a little creativity.
Placemats & Coasters: The most innovative way of recycling old greeting cards is to use them as placemats and coasters. Yes, sounds strange, but you can actually use them like this. Just cut down the picture from the card and put it on a colored shelf paper using an adhesive. Cover the front with a clear piece of Mac Tak that shows the picture through but makes it waterproof as well.

Scrapbooks: Another interesting way of recycling your old greeting cards is by using them for scrapbooking. You can decorate your plain scrapbook using the pictures from your greeting cards. Believe it or not, your friends will ask you from where you got that beautiful scrapbook with all those sweet pictures.

Christmas Card Ball: This Christmas, use all your old greeting cards to make stunning Christmas card balls. Again use the picture on the cards and cut them in different shapes like pentagons, hexagons but all of same size and stick them together to form a hanging ball. Decorate your Christmas tree using many such balls and save money and get the satisfaction watching your own creativity.

Gift Package Tags: You can also use your old beautiful greeting cards as gift package tags. Simply cut out the design from the card and make a hole on the top to use it as a gift package tag. In fact, some cards are so pretty that when you will use them as gift package tags, the receiver will like the tag more than the actual gift inside.

Gift Package Decoration: Old greeting cards can be used innovatively for gift package decoration as well. Again use your scissors and cut the picture from your old card and stick it on the gift paper to make it more beautiful. For an enhanced decoration, use sparkle to outline the card picture. This is the cheapest way to decorate a simple plain paper as a gift package decoration.

Postcards: Then you can also use the old greeting cards as postcards. Just be a little more creative and cut apart the back and front parts of the cards. Use that side of the card, which has the picture at its back. Now, using a ruler and a pencil, make two columns and pen down your message on one side and the address on the other side and your postcard is ready.

So, now you learnt in what all different ways can you recycle your old and sweet greeting cards. Feel free to use them gift package decoration, scrapbooking or coasters.
