Research in Motion has had a great, not to mention busy, 2007. This year has seen the launch of three brand new smart phones in the market. The BlackBerry is no longer just an email device for corporate people. It has branched out and become much bigger. It is still definitely the businessman’s or woman’s smart phone in the market. It has also gained new ground in terms of customers who are simply looking for their phones to do more as well.
One of the main attractions of the new models like the 8800, 8830 and the 8800 Curve are new document and multimedia features that have changed what Blackberrys used to be about. Just like the PC became fun, the Blackberrys have learnt to combine supreme functionality with a dash of fun as well. If you happen to be one of those who uses one of these sensational devices you should read the following tips on how to save yourself some time as well as get the most out of it in terms of productivity:
1. While working with spreadsheets you can toggle between spreadsheets by pressing V. when you select the one you want press Enter to view it.
2. Press N to view the next slide while viewing presentations. Pressing P will bring up the previous one while M will cycle through the lot, much like a Play button would.
3. To zoom in on a map press I and O to zoom out. To toggle your status information press U. This only works on the models with GPS like the 8800 and 8830.
4. Press the Spacebar while typing an email address and you will automatically be given a period sign or the ‘@’ sign without you having to go to the menu.
5. Holding a number for three seconds after you press it will program it into your speed dial
6. Alt + Trackball will cut and Shift + Trackball will paste anything.
7. When viewing a page press T to go to the top and B to go to the bottom of that page.
8. Pressing A while using the browser will allow you to bookmark a particular page.
9. While viewing an image pressing I will zoom in and O will zoom out, just like in maps. R will rotate the image and W will get you back to the original view.
10. The Mute key can also Pause and Resume when you play a video or a song.
