Frank Lloyd Wright was an inspirational architect and designer who experimented with different forms and design to create some of the world’s most beautiful houses. Frank Lloyd Wright design Preservation Trust was founded in the year 1974. Initially it was Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation. Its aim was acquisition and preservation of Wrights Studio and Home in Oak Park as this was the birthplace of American residential architecture.
The next year of its foundation, it was made a co-stewardship property of National Trust for Historic Preservation. Along with this the building of Home and Studio foundation was converted into an historic house museum. The responsibility of running this museum was with Home and Studio foundation.
In the year 1976, was another important year for Home and Studio Foundation as this year it was declared as a National Historic Landmark. In the year 1987 its ensuring, more than $3 million restoration was completed and at the same time it also received the prestigious National Honor Award from American Institute of Architects.
Today also, the Frank Lloyd Wright design Preservation Trust is operating with the help of over 500 hundred volunteers. Even today, the museum is open for visitors and about 97,000 visitors visit it yearly. The volunteers guide in the museum. They explain, to the visitors, about the different things kept on display.
