Self esteem and happiness go hand in hand together. They both depend on each other as they have a strong connection that binds them together. The absence of any one element creates hurdles for the existence of the other. Nevertheless you can not deny the fact that self esteem and happiness are two different things. Yet, both the terms are directly or indirectly connected with certain elements like satisfaction, stable mindset, optimism, sound understanding and healthy body. Moreover, things like appreciation, recognition, admiration, enjoyment, positive reception, escalation, achievement, success, emotional satisfaction and triumph can automatically improve your self esteem and boost your confidence level. They simultaneously make you happy and satisfied.
Self esteem reflects an individuals overall personality and his state of mind. If a person has a good self esteem, he has a great confidence, healthy mind and active body, which are a must to attain success in life. Usually people who possess a good self esteem are happy and they tend to have a good and memorable experience of a number of pleasurable and enjoyable instances. These experiences tend to satisfy their spirits and brace their process of encouraging thoughts.
It has been proved after various studies that absence of self esteem can give birth to a number of problems. Low self esteem can drag you to the trench of several medical issues. These problems need not necessarily be in medical terms but may also be in the form of emotional stress, mental sickness or physical disorders. Though depression and low confidence are the most common problems due to low self esteem but there are certain other health problems that might trouble you. But it is very correctly said that a healthy mind and self esteem welcomes happiness with heart and soul. This happiness comes from within. If you succeed in achieving your desired targets with a positive approach and an honest endeavor, you would automatically be happier. This would also boost your morale for achieving a higher target in future.
However, this does not imply that a person with a very high self esteem would necessarily appear to be happy. Such people may tend to incline towards the consumption of drugs or other hazardous substances due to a number of reasons.
Some people believe that self esteem and happiness are not necessarily dependant on each other for their existence and survival. But they might be linked in some ways directly or indirectly. They consider them as two separate constructs which might be connected in some cases.

Thus, it can be said that presence of a good and healthy self esteem in a person unlocks the doors to happiness and success for him. Happiness is a state of mind which comes to your way only when you build your self esteem and make efforts to maintain it.
