Running Shoes For Women
Whether you speak to marathon runners or just casual joggers, the one thing they will all agree on is that buying a proper pair of running shoes is important. Not just to enjoy running but to prevent any long-term injuries afflicting the legs, knees or feet.
Women runners too have to consider various factors before deciding on a good pair of running shoes for themselves. To start with, if they are just casual runners then a basic pair of women’s running shoes will do. On the other hand, if they are training for a marathon, then they will not only need more durable shoes but also one that is technologically enhanced to provide better comfort and performance.
Similarly, the kind of surface they run on also plays a role in determining what type of shoe to choose. Running on pavements and in jogging parks have dangers of uneven areas and potholes while running in the open, in grass and mountain trails, means stretches of uneven areas. All this would require shoes that properly protect the feet. On the other hand, if the entire running is done inside an air-conditioned gym, on a treadmill, protection may not be the paramount concern.
Women runners are always advised to try on the running shoes before they buy them, with their running socks on, if possible. In fact, if the store has a treadmill or some area to run around, they should try running in a few pairs of shoes to see which one fits most comfortably. If one tries running in shoes that are not comfortable not only is it a definite strain on the whole body but also the feet will end up getting blisters and sores. Shoes, which have good ankle support, provide more stability and prevent falls and twisted ankles.
Running shoes should also be well cushioned so that the impact of running is absorbed by the shoes and not felt up the leg. Lightweight, well-cushioned shoes allow runners to run comfortably and at maximum speed. Modern shoe technology has made it possible to develop shoes that come with full volume air soles that stretch right from the toes to the heel. This allows for adequate airflow, preventing sores from developing on the feet. This kind of specialized sole also provides an added degree of comfort to the wearer.
Women runners should therefore pay close attention to the functionality and durability of the shoes they are buying. Though some of the better shoes may cost more, the comfort and performance one gets is worth the money paid. One can always find less expensive counterparts that may look almost the same as their pricier look a likes. However, the difference will be in the functionality and though one may save a few dollars initially, the price paid later through injury may be immeasurable.
It is best that one does a careful study of all the women’s running shoes in the market, test them in the store and then pick one that feels the most comfortable.
