By , in Reality TV.

Unlike a few years ago, it is no longer impossible to be on TV and not just for as a participant for a game show or any trifle, but as an active part of a proper show as a member of its cast. And with reality shows, you don’t need to be ridiculously good-looking or charming with a broad range of tools and talents. Simply take a shot at the auditions and become a part of your favorite reality show. Though you can never tell what the casting judges are looking for, it doesn’t make sense to underestimate yourself either. With preparation and a few gritted thoughts, you can make it. It is always best to keep the following in mind:

Keep it Real

You are yourself and no matter how hard you try you can never be somebody else. There are thousands of people who try to project themselves in manner far from the truth of their existence which is the very first mistake a participant makes in an audition. Remember that the casting directors and judges are professionals and they are no fools, not to mention they know exactly what is happening. The audience wants real people, true personalities and the worth of human potential which is all in you. What the audience does not want is a cheap impression. The casting director is simply there to make sure that everything fits, so don’t think for even once that they might not consider you as a prime candidate. For all you know you might be mistaken and you just might be exactly what the show needs. Just be yourself and keep it real.

Auditions Process

There are two ways to audition. One way is through written applications and video demos sent through by mail and over the internet. The other method is to audition in person. When auditioning through written application, it is always best to keep it short and simple. Remember not conjure up a short story for every question asked of you. Be original and it never hurts to be brief. However, most shows prefer that people audition in person. Use this to your advantage as it is the perfect opportunity to show the individuality within you and your ability to stand out in a crowd. React with honesty, be creative and be yourself, you will surely be rewarded. The best part of auditioning in person is the chance to etch a good impression.

Flair and Drama

Nothing can be worse than being drab and boring. React, show off your flair for life and add zest to the moment. That is exactly what the judges, directors and producers are looking for. Be yourself, and pull out every bit of the undefined potential that lies within you. Your creativity, artistry, intelligence, your ambitious spirit or even your inquisitive nature, now is the time to use all of them and more. Put them all in your video or reveal it in your audition and they most certainly would help you to get selected. Reality TV thrives on all these aspects and most of the times you yourself might have mused over a certain characters flair for quick thinking, wit or shrewd intelligence.

The last aspect to keep in mind is to be sharp. Be punctual, follow directions, answer politely and maintain a calm demeanor. There are many people who fall behind on these very attributes, and if you can keep to these simple philosophies, you will find yourself far ahead.
