Before you make a goal towards making sure that your child is getting proper physical exercise, you should make sure that he/she has a positive attitude towards it. Having fun is an important part of playing and if you force your child into playing, he/she may just not feel the fun involved in it. While trying to inculcate a feeling of playing outside, one of the biggest mistakes done by the parents is that they try to force their favorite sport on their kids. If you do like a sport or an activity, it is not at all necessary that your kid excels in it. How about playing your favorite sport with your kid? If you or your kid is not able to take the time out for a physical activity, there are many other healthy activities that you can do with your kids so as to develop improved motor ability, imaginative nature and problem resolving abilities in them. Being imaginative is the key here. For example, let’s say your kid goes to a school that is located near your residence; in this case, you both can have a walk to and from the school to serve as a healthy physical activity you both can participate in.

By the term healthy activity, we not only mean physical activity, we also mean mental development. Being a parent, it is your responsibility to introduce your kid to new kinds of sports and activities he/she is reluctant to do by him/herself. You need to ignite the imagination in your child and believe it or not, it is not at all difficult to do so. Children are meant to play and have fun, just a little bit of encouragement is enough to make them leave their idiot boxes and head out to play!
