Buying Car Alarm Systems
Buying Car Alarm Systems
Are you thinking of buying a car alarm system? Our cars are one of the most expensive items we own and for many people they are one of the most important pieces of property we will ever have. We also have to depend on our cars to get us to places we need to go like school and work and even to the grocery store. It’s understandable that you will want to protect this important piece of property in any way possible.
However, many people make mistakes when they go to purchase a car alarm system. They may not know enough about the system or even about the market. They may not know what their individual needs are or they may get pressured by a pushy salesman into buying more than they really need. There are some important things you should know before you spend any money on a car alarm system.
Types of Systems Available
There are so many different types of car alarm systems. When it comes to car alarm system choices, there are two main types:
• Passive
• Active
Some alarms can actually be both. These methods refer to the way that the car alarm activates and functions. Passive alarms will automatically arm themselves after the car is turned off and the doors are all closed. You never have to remember about whether or not you armed the alarm as it will do it for you. An active alarm system requires you manually arm it in some way.
There are many car alarm systems that are designed to work either passively or actively. This is great for a busy person who may not always remember to arm their alarm. Another great reason to have an automobile alarm system is because it may lower your car insurance payment. If you have passive features on your alarm, you may save even more.
Some automobile alarm systems will need to be put in at the same time or before your stereo system is put in- particular if you are going to have a very expensive stereo system installed.
You can usually get a great auto alarm system for $100-200 and you can typically have it installed for around $100. When shopping for your car alarm, don’t be cheap.
