Frank Lloyd Wrights Legacy

Frank Lloyd Wrights Legacy

Frank Lloyd Wright believed in amalgamating the spirit of the land and the design of the structure to make a building that paid homage to their natural habitat. This art of organic architecture brought about a revolution in the field of architecture. Today, even after his death frank Lloyd Wright is considered America’s best and finest architects of all times.

Here are some of the problems that Frank Lloyd Wright design legacy and buildings are facing:

* Frank Lloyd Wright design legacy is such that his disciples are fighting amongst themselves while his buildings face ruin.
* His buildings are iconic and demand high prices from everybody. So the renovation and restoration of his buildings is taking its guardians well over billions of dollars to set right. Like the man himself his creations require very high maintenance.
* Just to quote a few example, it takes $10 m to renovate his youngest university buildings, about $3 m to $8 m to restore one of his houses, $10 m to renovate a modest hotel on Iowa, $24.5 m to retrieve the Guggenheim’s flaky exterior and at least $86m to save the twin headquarters of the Wright cult.

Wright’s personal life, in fact, was a disaster. So is the Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy. He married three times and was chased by the police quite often. He was a huge spender and no matter how deep in debt he continued to work with utter diligence. He organized the Taliesin Fellowship in which his workers paid him on an apprentice system. He spent his clients’ quite freely, as if it were his own.

His genius though was stupendous. He had to design a weekend cottage at a favorite family picnic spot for the owner Edgar J. Kaufmann. The Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy takes roots here.

For months and months, he did not work on the design. Kaufmann’s patience ran out and he called Wright to say that he was driving over the distance of 140 miles to see him. Wright said that the design was finished and that he should come and look at it. Everybody in the office knew that nothing was ready and they were flabbergasted to see Wright sit down and finish the design of the house to the last detail in about three hours.

Wright built an amazing 470 buildings in his lifetime and a huge number were designed but never built. Many of his buildings are now demolished and some are decaying due the use of some organic material. The Frank Lloyd Wright foundation inc. stands today to zealously protect the master’s originals. They are striving to keep the buildings in place and revere frank Lloyd Wright as if he were god. He was quite a genius and was regarded to be almost god-like when it a. That is why people strive to protect his monuments even today. He was way beyond his time and thought of futuristic 21st century designs. Architects today might think of any design, but their prowess would never match up to Frank Lloyed Wright design legacy.   Frank Lloyd Wright design legacy continues despite all the latest advancements in building technology.

Two generations after Wright, his grandson, Eric Lloyd Wright continues the romance between nature along with man-made space. The company, Eric Lloyd Wright architecture and planning and his embrace of organic architecture, works with natural environment using non-toxic materials while embracing construction and energy systems.  Not only is the Frank Lloyd Foundation Inc. working to keep the legacy alive but so is his lineage. The Frank Lloyd Wright design legacy is here to stay.
