Volleyball, one of favorite sport has evolved recently. Even then, it has undergone various changes and progress, after its origin. It’s very hard to believe that in earlier days Nike shoes and uniform for volleyball were not sold

•    Firstly, Volleyball game was developed by William G. Morgan in 1895. At that time, Morgan called this game as “Mintonette”. This game was fundamentally developed for business people, as a game that concerned less bodily contact at division of the YMCA, where he actually worked at Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Morgan combined various other games’ aspects to create this game. Here are some of them.
 
•    First aspect includes net, which was borrowed from tennis game. This net was raised at height of 6 foot 6 inch.
 
•    Other aspects were borrowed from basketball, baseball and handball.
 
•    During game demonstration, one from audience commented that this game includes more about volleying, this is how the game was named as Volleyball.
 
 
•    In 1896, for the first time, Volleyball was being played officially at Springfield College. After that, this game gained popularity and got a started and was played at different colleges.
 
•    In the year 1900, special ball for this game was being designed. Also, in the very same year, this game was being taken from America to Canada by YMCA.

Later on, after five years, Volleyball reached Cuba. All this led to the origin of improvement and attraction in the Volleyball era and it became one of the international games in those days.
 
•    In 1907, Volleyball gained recognition for the first time as one of the most well-liked sports at Playground of America convention.
 
•    In later ten years duration, YMCA takes Volleyball game to Brazil, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. First Official competition of Volleyball was held at Far Eastern Games in year, 1913.
 
•    In 1916, volleyball had an exact evolution for first time. In the Philippines, certain changes were being made in game play by introducing offensive pass named set and spike. Filipinos introduced “Bomberino”, one who hits “bomba”, which is the kill. In the very same year, after invitation of NCAA from YMCA to make some changes in rules and regulation of game, Volleyball was included in standard physical education courses in various school and colleges
 
•    In 1917, scoring systems was also changed by ending game with 15 points in place of 21 points. The reason behind this was to play more games within same duration of time and also to make sessions shorter for players.
 
There have been several improvements in this game play over a period of time and these continue to happen resulting into greater success of the well liked game globally.
