A ferret is a small and low slung animal with a long body and it is very much similar to skunks, weasels, badgers and wolverines. * Even the bar of soap should be out of reach from your ferret
* All exotic plants should be out of the reach of your ferret
* The access to the laundry room should always be secured
If you want to implement effective ferret proofing in your home, keep all cleaning supplies and medicines in a top cabinet with a strong child safe latch. All spaces under stoves, dishwashers, cabinets and refrigerators in your home should always be blocked off. If there are any small openings in your house, immediately block off them. The toilet lids in your home should always be down when they are not in use. A ferret can climb into your toilet if it wants to drink the water, so the doors of the toilet should be always closed. A bar soap is injurious to a ferret, keep it away from the reach of your ferret. Sometimes it can climb onto a bathroom counter and can taste the bar soap or the bathtub soap dish. All the rubber items that are made with soft or foam rubber like toys, shoe inserts, exercise weights, buckets with rubber handles, and rubber bands should be out of the limits of your ferret.
If there are any unsafe areas in your home, keep them always block off with ferret proofing barriers. While sitting on a chair you should make sure that your ferret is not inside a couch or chair. If there are any openings in the sofa or chair try to fill the gap with something, as the ferret can hide or come into contact with the stuffing of sofa. It is also advisable to check the dishwasher internally before starting, as your ferret can hide in it. In this way, you can do so many things for a complete ferret proofing.
