But for majority of people back ache is a result of lack of exercise, poor posture and also due to stress. The solution to the entire three problems is very simple, it is rest. It is important that you give rest to your back before your condition becomes critical.
When you begin to have shooting pain in your lower back, then you should immediately take bed rest. It is advisable that you take 2 to 3 days off and try not even to step your foot on the floor. Although you may feel that taking 3 days off is not required, but it is best to cure the problem in its earlier stages than letting it grow until it becomes critical.
As an alternative to bed rest, you can also try lying down on the floor. You can tuck a pillow underneath your knee to straighten your spine. You can adjust the TV in the right angle, so that you have something to do while you are taking the day off. It is best not to undertake any unnecessary movements and let the body heal naturally.
You can also heal muscular spasm by applying heat. A heating pad is ideal for back aches. Just place the heating pad on the area of the back that is sore and try and lie still. The heat will slowly heal the muscular spam and will help in blood circulation in that area.
You can also try out stretching and exercising your back to reduce pain. But it is important to note that before you start stretching or before you undertake any such exercise it is important that you consult your physician. Yoga is a great way to start off as it is low impact and helps in a complete exercise of the back muscle. Remember not to over do anything, when you are starting with stretching try and do it in moderation as you might damage your back muscle by excess of it.
If you take care of your back on a regular basis, you will t a much better position in keeping back aches at bay. In the daily course of activity try not to put too much pressure on your back muscles and disc while lifting objects, try and bend your knees forward when you have to lift objects, because then your thigh muscles bear the weight and the back muscles are not over worked. Using these simple tips can save you from chronic back ache.
