The new mom health is of utmost importance as her body is exhausted after the labor and poses many health risks. So going slow and easy after the birth of the baby is of utmost importance. Move according to the baby time. It is important to rest whenever the new mom can as the mom may have to spend sleepless nights initially. Rest helps to gain strength and freshen up.

Try to have healthy foods and lots of water. Water helps in lactating and healthy foods give the body the much needed nutrition. A new mom needs extra calories and lots of rest. Especially if a mom has had caesarian section than she needs lots of rest. The new mom can become anemic with the blood loss during labor. So in order to regain the strength it is important to have mineral such as iron in her diet.

As the new mom will be breastfeeding she will need extra food to satisfy her hunger as well as the baby’s. So having a healthy diet is important in maintaining the new mom health.  Lots of energy is involved in caring for a baby. So in order to regain the energy it is important to nurture yourself. The new mom can try to take a long bath, read a book or do whatever pleases her. It helps to recharge the lost energy in the body, ready to take on the responsibilities of the baby with a renewed vigor.
   
For a new mom, health is very important because the baby is totally dependent on her. So the mom can ask for help. Many people around mom may want to help but may not know in what ways they can do so. So the new mom can enquire if one may be interested in helping her out and in what way.

To release the frustrations and stress that comes with new motherhood, the mom can join a resource centre or activity group wherein she can meet other moms, share her experiences and befriend them. It is a great way to know that you are not the only one who is overwhelmed, confused, stressed and frustrated with the new responsibilities of being a mother.

If a new mom is having post partum depression then proper help in time can help her to avoid falling into deeper stress. Counseling is a proper way to maintain a sound mental health of the new mom. In the cases of depression, the mom resource networks can prove to be a great help.  The new father can also be a great help to maintain the new mom health. Helping her with nursing, bathing the baby, taking the baby for walk so that mom can rest can be a great help for the tired mom ensuring a way to regain her lost health.

Using nursing pillows for nursing the baby can be safe and comfortable for the baby and mom. It helps in reducing the back pain which comes with breastfeeding. For colicky babies, one can use gripe water which will help ease the digestion and stomach pain in the baby and help him to sleep. The sight of a constantly crying baby can cause lots of stress in the parents, so with the help of the doctor choose gripe water for your colicky baby. Taking steps to ensure the new mom health will ensure the baby is healthy too.
