Packing Ideas For Healthy Lunches

Today’s children as well as teens spend most of their time in school, about 8 months every year. They wake up early for going to school and are required to stay there till late afternoon.

The minds of students require energy for understanding their subjects. Energy can be gained by eating nutritious foods. Unfortunately though, parents rarely have the time required for packing a healthy lunch for their child.

Consequently, they provide lunch money to their children for eating at the cafeteria in the school.

Parents Should Pack:
Students are found to consume huge amounts of junk food and sugar. They rarely opt for the healthy food available in the cafeteria.

Hence, parents are required to pack their child’s lunch instead of providing them with money. This will help in making your child consume healthy food.

Things which should be considered while packing the lunch of your child are the essential food groups. Always prefer avoiding foods having huge amounts of sugar and fatty foods such as soda, pizza, candy and similar junk foods.

These foods should not be packed into your child’s lunch. You can rather provide apple juice, orange juice and water instead of soda and fruits like banana, orange and apple in place of candy. Yogurt can also be sometimes added to your child’s lunch.

Options:
Varieties of food items can be packed into your child’s lunch bag. You can pack sandwiches which can be made interesting by adding ham, cheese, onions, turkey, tomatoes, lettuce, tuna, egg, etc.

A peanut butter sandwich with banana is one unique option which can be explored. Food items can also be made more exciting by packing a wrap including veggies, fruit, pasta, bread and meat, or sushi, or a nutritious chicken burrito.

Ice Pack:
You are also required to do certain things while packing your kid’s lunch. Ice pack is one such thing which should be included with the lunch bag if the lunch contains something requiring refrigeration.

Tin foil or sandwich bags can be used for wrapping in the food. This prevents the food from getting rotten or spoilt. Buy your child his/her preferred kind of lunch box for keeping the food healthy and fresh. Brown bags are another alternative for packed lunches.

These tips should be followed while packing your kid’s lunch as healthy food is absolutely essential for providing energy to students for helping them in achieving their goals, learning subjects as well as getting good grades.
