Repurpose Content for Blog Posts

How can busy blog owners keep the content on their blogs fresh? Or better yet, can bloggers use the content from what they are doing as blog posts? Here are some quick tips on how you can repurpose your content for blog posts.

·    If you have had to make a presentation recently before clients, at a conference or any similar gathering, you probably have a set of slideshows all ready with content, figures and numbers. Split up the content into smaller pieces, each speaking about a key topic and shore it up with some more examples and research. You can thus generate many such blog posts from one presentation.
·    Similarly, if you have written a long article on a topic you feel strongly about or which is one of your strengths, break this up as well into a series of blog posts. You can add a line or two as introduction and conclusion for each one of those posts. You could make the post more attractive by including a fresh set of links at the end of each post.
·    Press releases are often fairly dry and to the point. Take a press release, stick to the main message but rewrite it to sound more appealing. You could also link to other relevant blogs or websites and probably also to the original press release.
·    You may find that you have taught a few courses, worked on a few manuals, even started work on a book. All these will give you enough material for brief posts. You can make the content sound fresh by providing links to new websites or new books.
·    You can re-use blog posts and make them sound new. Rewrite the posts to get rid of old or irrelevant content and include some fresh material and fresh links.
·    If you are shooting a promotional video and making it available online, make sure you take screenshots of the more impressive moments and put them up as blog posts. You can also put them up on image sharing websites and provide a link back to the blog where it is originally posted.
·    If you have a website that contains an online forum, you may have had to answer many questions on a specific topic. Instead of answering the same question again and again, you could have a blog post on that topic. Similarly, if you have visited any blog or website and posted a comment, you could turn it into a post on your blog.
·    It is not necessary that only written content be repurposed. If you have recently spoken at a seminar or conference and have an audio recording of the same, you could make some excerpts available as blog posts. Add a brief introduction about where you were speaking, what the occasion was and what are the key points you are covering in your talk. Another alternative is to transcribe your talk and then rewrite the content into a series of blog posts.
