What you wear while playing a sport often has an impact on how you perform. And every sport has a specific type or set of clothing associated with it. The same holds true for snowboarding which too mandates the need of proper clothing. One must remember that staying warm and dry is the basic principle of choosing clothing for snowboarding. Come read on to know more about clothing for snowboarding.

Base Layer

To begin with clothing for an adventurous activity like snowboarding would need you to start with a base layer. The base layer generally comprises of a synthetic and moisture-wicking cloth. Cotton is one material that is to be avoided at all costs, as it absorbs moisture and will end up making you feel cold and wet. Use synthetic socks, long underwear pants and a long sleeve top. Just a single pair of this base layer is enough, don’t try to wear two layers, else you will end up feeling uncomfortable. Following materials are used for base layer:
* Polyester
* Polypropylene
* Coolmax
* Capilene
* Polartec

Second Layer

After the base layer, next comes the second layer for snowboarding clothing.  The second layer should be such that it insulates you from the cold. For such a purpose, a fleece jacket or vest will go perfect, but choose these depending on the temperature of the place where you will do snowboarding. If it’s not so cold, second layer is enough on the base layer to keep you warm while snowboarding. However, in case you plan to ride in chilly winters, you will need another layer of clothing.

Third Layer

As mentioned earlier, third layer is required only when it’s too cold else you will feel uncomfortable. While choosing a third layer, try to put it on your second and base layer, so as to know how comfortable you feel wearing it. The main purpose of the third layer is to protect you from wind and water. Generally, GoreTex material jackets and pants are preferred as the third layer clothing for snowboarding because they are lightweight, windproof and waterproof. Try to get the pants with belt loops, as the movement involved in snowboarding may loosen even the best fitting pants.

Accessories

Now, you know what all layer of clothes you need to wear and when to wear while going for a snowboarding activity. It’s time to know a little more, in other words, just clothing is not sufficient for a perfect and comfortable snowboarding. You need some accessories too. When it is too cold, also go for a facemask or a neck gaiter to keep yourself warm. Make sure to cover your jacket sleeves properly while pulling on your gloves. Following accessories are essential for snowboarding:
* Hats
* Helmets
* Gloves
* Mittens
* Goggles

Last but not the least, when you go out looking for proper clothing for snowboarding; do give special attention to the quality of the product you are purchasing so as to avoid exposing yourself to pneumonia, frostbite and other related risks.
