Flying to Spain from North America is a bit more of a challenge. 1 penny flights just are not going to happen. However, by flying in shoulder seasons you can still save a fair bit.

Getting around Spain is another place where you can save. By purchasing a Eurail pass you can save hundreds on travel. Spain has the most expensive rail network in Europe. You will find that your Eurail pass pays for itself quite quickly. IT ends up being more economical than traveling by bus.

Staying in Spain can be quite an adventure. It isn’t difficult to find cheap accommodation. There are loads of hostels that are very reasonably priced. You may want to invest in a youth hostel card before you go. This will get you into all the YHA youth hostels for the lowest rate. It can also entitle you to free entry into museums and restaurant discounts. You may find that people offer rooms in their homes. This is very common in the summer months near the beach towns. Be sure you agree everything first before taking this option. Look at the room and pay when you leave. This can save you loads of money if done correctly.

Finding free food in Spain is harder not to do than it is to do. By visiting the Tapas bars, with every drink you usually get morsels of food. Stick to beer because it is the cheapest. Local brands cost next to nothing and are quite good.

Traveling can be expensive but Spain makes it possible to do it on the cheap. By doing your research and giving up a few luxuries, you will find that you can really enjoy Spain on a tiny budget.
