Why Victims Bullying Need Support
We all know Darwin was right when he talked about his theory of survival of the fittest among species. Although not a new topic, bullying can also be seen as a down and dirty rip-off of Darwin’s theory. While animals would fight it out with each other and with the nature for their will to survive, we humans usually showcase our talents to prove our skills. While showcasing your skills is a good habit, bullying others either because they are different from everyone or because they are better than you is a serious social evil. In this article, we will look at bullying and try to understand why victims of bullying need constant support for coping up with bullies.
It is interesting to know that bullies have stereotyped their victims as people who would either have some physical flaw like obesity or are weak enough to quietly take all their comments and beatings. People who are bullied suffer from mental trauma and some other social issues because of bullying. While it is commonly seen that such people suffer from low self confidence, self doubt and low self esteem, these people are also reserve by nature and do not have many friends.
Common at school level, bullying is a thought to be a part and parcel of the school life by many. Although ignorance is never an answer, school staff and teachers should make sure that necessary steps are taken in order to eradicate bullying from school. By providing help and support to victims, school staff can not only resurrect the lost confidence of a victim but will also make sure that the bully notices all the attention the victim is being paid because of him. Bullies like attention and they would never like someone from the school staff to pay attention to their victims especially when they are a reason for that attention. There are some steps that can be taken if you want to ensure the betterment of a bullied victim. Given below are some steps that are required to make instant connection with the victims of bullying:
Chat privately – No victim would admin in the public view that he/she has been bullied. Even if you see a student being bullied, go to the place to disrupt the scenario but do not ask for anything from the victim, instead call the student to your office and ask politely if he/she is feeling any discomfort in coping with the environment at the school. If the victim is open to tell you about the situation he/she is being facing, take appropriate action against the bully but if the victim is not comfortable with doing so, assure him that you will always be there to listen to his/her problems and take appropriate action.
Suggest – If you are talking to a victim of bullying, and he/she is telling you about the situation, make sure to add suggestions that would allow the victim to easily tackle the problem from his/her end only.
