WoW2: World Of Warcraft Now
WoW, or World of Warcraft is a new age online game, which is a super multi-player game. Created by Blizzard Entertainment, this is a massively popular online game, which is being played by the whole online gaming community these days. It was first iintroduced in 1994 by the company as Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. Wow is the fourth game set in the fantasy world of Warcraft Universe.
World of Warcraft, the game’s format is play to play – you advance from one level to go the other and so on. Previous series the the Warcraft games were a real-time strategy games. This one though is not a real-time strategy game, but a MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-playing game) one. And as in any other MMORPG games, players can control an avatar within the present scenario of the world inside the game. The players can use the computer generated characters called the NPCs, or non-players, to exploring the game landscape, perform all activities of the game like fight the monsters. The players can hone their skill while on the play and can win awards in the form of items, money and experience, in turn improving their skills and power in the game.
Players in WoW can gain their avatar from levels one to 70 if they have Burning Crusade expansion, release in January 2007. Players can have the option of fighting with other players of enemy faction in battles. There can also be fights between the members of the same factions, which do not give them any rewards. There are some segments of the game which needs co-playing with other players to win. An example of such segments is dungeons which require as many as 40 players to play. These high level segments of the game might take few weeks or even months to succeed.
Users of Wow are given specific character accounts which can be sued on all realms. Users can also move their character between regions for a fee. As of now, users cannot move their characters from PvE (player versus environment) realm to PvP (player versus player) realm, they can only do so from one PvP to another PvP or a PvE. The two types of characters in the game are Player Characters (PC) – a player’s avatar, and Non-Player Character (NPC) – a character controlled by AI (artificial intelligence) that interacts with PCs through events that are pre-scripted. NPCs are of several types – friendly ones cannot attack friendly characters and the friendly character do not attack them, hostile ones are either the opposing faction or are enemies that are AI controlled and neutral NPCs who attacks if provoked.
World of Warcraft was announced by Blizzard Entertainment on September 2, 2001 and release on November 23, 2004 on the occasion of Warcraft Franchise’s 10th anniversary. Despite the initial glitches of performance stability issues, WoW has now become a huge success. It is considered the world’s largest MMORPG because of its large subscriber base – 9 million players from all over the world, with more than 2 million in North America only.
