Golf Drivers: What Should The Head Be Made Out Of?
Originally the driver in your golf bag was called a wood and with good reason.  The head of the club was made wood.  Specifically they were made of persimmon or maple, but have since progressed in their materials.  Today woods are now referred to as metal woods since they are now primarily made up of metal.  In most cases they are made of hollow steel or titanium or a composite.

Wood Versus Metal

The way that world evolves everything needs to evolve with it.  Yes we think that some things should never change, however in the world of golf the conversion from wood to metal was probably one of the greatest moves ever.  Originally it was a transition from wood to steel, and then it was from foam filled steel to titanium and other composite materials.  Regardless, club heads have gotten lighter and sturdier in their evolution.  This means that they are not giving anything up and that are continuing to gain the ability to produce better results.

The Club Face

The angle and length of the club face will help to determine what the club will be used for as far as driving the ball.  When referring to a driver you are referring to the largest wood that is in the golf bag as it is the one that you are most likely to use when you make your initial shot off of the tee and onto the fairway and hopefully the green.  The angle that your clubface has will help in determining the loft that you will get on the ball.  The lower the angle the straighter your ball will go.  However the higher the number to more arc so to speak you will have which will go long ways in determining which face you will want to have on your club.  It is also determinate on the size as well as the striking area that is on the club that you are using.

Remember it is all about comfort when you choose which club head you will be going with when it comes to your golf game.  Choose one that you like and that you feel will help to improve and enhance your game, not one that you think looks the best.
