Drawbacks

One of the primary drawbacks is the fact that a machine is now installed on your kayak taking away from the tradition that you once had.  Not only is your craft not so simple anymore, but you no longer have the original means of propelling, a paddle.  This takes away from the tradition as well as removing a safety device since you could use the paddle to flip the boat back over in the event of capsizing.
