Serve Well
There are drills, which can help the serving process well. Serving is the most critical skill in volleyball and it should be looked upon as the first exercise and not the last one. When you sense that the only time you are in total control of ball is when you serve, you will not want to give it last priority.

Being in middle school, you might tend to take things a bit lightly and that’s where accuracy can be hindered.

Serving needs utmost accuracy and it needs to be practiced a lot and when you do that, you can notice the difference when you play a game next time.

These drills should not be harshly thrown upon middle school students, at least initially. Players should be given time to settle down and also encouraged to pose questions on any aspect of the game. To organize a practice you can select an area in opposite court and put a chair there. You can target that area, so as to improve your precision and a player is made to sit in that chair. The ball should be hit with such accuracy that the player in chair could catch it. If he misses, the ball is passed to other player; but if the ball is caught well, the positions are exchanged and the person on the chair gets a chance to serve and a new area is decided for the chair. To make it more competitive, there can be simple punishments if a player does a foul.

Play the Tip-Top Game
Another middle school drills can be planned with 6 players on each side of the mesh. When the coach throws the ball, it should be tipped once or twice and when the player tips the ball on opposite side, they should rotate an individual position from where they are.

This can be an excellent way to warm the players up.

The tips and tricks discussed above are handy ways to draw kids to volleyball and also keep their interest going on with time. Make sure they successfully execute 2 tips before tipping the ball over to the other side. This drill is a fast-paced way to get players moving, which means it is a great warm-up drill before games.
