Licorice: pure licorice is anti inflammatory, just like cortisol. The moat advisable form of licorice is deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) as it does not cause the blood pressure to rise. 

Breathing exercise: an asthma attack can be kept at bay, by concentrating on proper breathing. There are various techniques of breathing exercise, but the main aim of all the breathing exercise is to relax your body and try and draw I as much oxygen as much possible. 

When an attack begins, force your self to relax, sit down put the palm of one hand on your stomach and with the other hand feel the pulse on your other wrist. Next try and breathe in after every 7 beats and try and breathe out after every 9 beats. This will effectively help you to control the asthma attack.
