Professional wrestling on television, although seems to be real is actually false in reality. When organizers gave permission to broadcast professional wrestling on television, its popularity increased manifold. Thus fans could easily watch their wrestlers from the comfort of their home.

Thus professional wrestling TV shows have gained enormous popularity in the last decade. Professional wrestling on television has literally become a popular form of entertainment which is passionately watched by people from all over the world.

There is a significant difference in the television shows that are broadcasted now and that were shown in the 1980’s. In the mid 80’s the main revenue source for world wrestling federation came through TV shows. In those times generally jobber matches were organized in which big stars fought against no name talent. Watching professional wrestling on television is far better than actually going there and seeing the event. On television, you can clearly see each and every move the wrestler makes in order to defend his opponent. More than 5 million householders watch wrestling on T.V. and thus it is one of the highest rated television shows.

Viewing professional wrestling on television can have a negative impact on children. Some of the things to note are as under
* Children try to imitate actions that are performed by wrestlers which may injure their body
* A study has shown increasing violence and health risk behaviors due to these TV shows
* On these shows children often see inappropriate role models, wrestlers making crude remarks and using vulgar languages 
* Behavior such as threatening with weapons for small reasons is seen among adolescents. In other words, violent behavior is on a rise because of professional wrestling events that are shown on television.
* Parents indeed find it difficult to handle these health risk behaviors found among children.

These TV shows are in fact a major target market for advertisers as  these shows are heavy with commercials, hence channels make huge profits by broadcasting these wrestling events.

There are approximately 103 commercials if the show is for 2 hours. Million of dollars are at stake as two giants of television wrestling world, World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Federation compete for viewer ship. Professional wrestling has thus become a multi million dollar industry.

If you observe professional wrestling on television closely, you will realize that each move is scripted. Given the large amount of money invested in television merchandizing and advertising, level of violence will further increase to keep and attract viewer ship. Report says that 25% audience of these shows is children and teenagers. 15% i.e. around 1 million viewers are less than eleven years old and hence is a cause of major concern.
