Take Charge Through Self-Empowerment
Have you always aimed high but felt that you did not have the power to achieve your goals? Have you always fallen short of your expectations because you did not have enough control over your life or because you lacked self-command? One of the most important steps in the process of self-empowerment is to take control of one’s life. Here are a few tips on how to take charge of one’s life through self-empowerment.
To begin we have to understand what we mean by taking control of one’s life. Self-command is an ability and a skill set – something that we need to develop and work on till it comes naturally to us. It is the ability to decide what direction to head in and then drive oneself in that direction. Remember, self-command does not force you to do something that you yourself do not wish you to do. It becomes the motivating and driving factor in our life.
For example, imagine that you have been assigned a task for completion. If you look at the task and say.’ Why am I being given this job? I hate this job’ and so on, very slowly your unwillingness to do the work spreads through the body and the power of the mind is such that your whole body starts to feel tired and unable to do the task. On the other hand, if you speak to yourself and say, ‘This sounds like great fun. I cannot wait to do this job.’ Then your mind starts working in the reverse way. Very slowly the excitement and passion that you feel for the job is conveyed throughout the body and you feel very kicked about doing the job.
Obviously, when you set out a goal for yourself, you have to also tell yourself that you can do it. If you believe that achieving the goal is going to be too difficult anyway, then your mind and body are going to react in the same way. Speak to yourself and tell yourself that the goal is achievable and that you are going to make it very soon. Your whole attitude will undergo a transformation, you will feel in charge of your life and you will indeed feel empowered to achieve whatever you wanted.
One of the techniques used to build up this positive self-image is that of visualization. Imagine what you would feel like once you reach your goal. What would it feel like to give the information to your friends and your family? Just close your eyes and actually try to visualize the moment when you are informing your parents – savor the moment and let this memory act as a motivating force for you. You will learn to take charge of your life through these empowering memories.
As you can see, all it takes are a few simple steps for you to rediscover your self-command. Speak to yourself about how you have the power in you to achieve whatever you set your mind on. Empower yourself by filling your mind with positive thoughts and positive energy and soon you will on the right track to success.
