When it comes to delicious food, nobody can ever forget Italian food. Italian food is one of the most fascinating cuisines the world has ever come across. The worlds fascination exploded during and after world war two when the world tasted different types of Italian food. The flavors traveled home with people from America, Europe and across the globe. That aroma, the smell of spices and vegetables still wafts around me when I come to think of tasty Italian dishes. Any one would definitely fall in love with Italian food.

The secret behind this awesome taste is that Italian food is mostly made with fresh ingredients and time tested flavor combinations. There are different types of Italian food and every type has its own special taste that lures anyone who tastes it. Italy is best known for their pastas and pizzas, sausages and fish dishes.

It has been known that there is great regional variation in Italy and this fact is certainly reflected in Italy’s diversity of local cuisine. Therefore, there are different types of Italian food and cuisines from different region.

North Italy’s traditional products are mortadella, lasagna, polenta, parmesan cheese, Bolognese sauce, dry cured ham and stuff pasta. Tuscan Italian food often features white beans, meat and unsalted beans. Now the famous pizzas and mozzarella cheese if from Naples. Italian food inculcates rich roman influences. Still other types of Italian food include lamb and seafood with different variations. The Sicilian cuisine is well known for its seafood that has Arab influence because of use of pistachio and lemon. Sicily is also the home for gelato and granite dessert made from water, sugar and flavorings. The famous risotto comes from Veneto. It is dish full of fish and other seafood stuffs. Also beans and legumes are extensively used in dishes from this Veneto.

From the Trentino-Alto Adige region, Goulash gnocchi dish is most famous. These dishes are served with crauti, lard, olive oil and tomatoes as main ingredients. Other types of Italian dishes include bergamo, Valtellina pumpkin, and brescia from Lombardy region. The Lombardy region also consists of food such as rye bread, smoked bacon, truffles, prosciutto, pork fillet, nebbiolo, Savory pies and cakes, panissa, pesto, trenette and many others. In the Marche region, they prepare excellent sausages and hams that are fine delicacies. Lazio pasta dishes are also very tasty apart from coda alla vaccinara. Meat, vegetables and pasta dishes from Abruzzo and Molise area are also unique and they are served with herbal liquors.

All these different types of Italian food are severed with unique style. There is special meal structure that is followed and food is served according to that structure. The meal starts with appetizers that include campari, cinzano, Vermouth, Suze and Byrrh. It also includes hot and cold appetizers. Then the first course consists of risotto, pasta, polenta, gnocchi and other dishes. The second course includes fish, meat and pork depending on the choice. Other seafood is also included. Desserts are an important part of an Italian meal and consists of cakes, cookies, ice creams and coffees.
